A Bit More Precise

So, as I alluded to in my last post, part of my method for this blog for the time being will be to peruse academic blogs and think about them rhetorically. This will be in the service of developing an archive and, if I'm lucky, a methodology for my dissertation, which at the moment, at least, is going to be about the changing face of academic discourse. Or, since plenty of people have critiqued the idea of a stable, unified academic discourse, it may be more accurate to say that I'm looking at the ways in which new genres are changing the writing practices that many academics use. This means that we need to attend to the ways blogs and other forms of writing mediate academic practice. Or, to put it one more way, an ecology of academic writing needs to take into account the new genres in which scholars compose.
